Support for Mathematical Tools

The IT-DES group supports the following Mathematical Tools:

• Mathematica
• MathCAD
• Matlab
• VISIO

It is used in scientific research, in engineering analysis and modelling, and potentially infinite other ways. Under CERN's site licence, Mathematica may be run on CERN UNIX or Linux, Windows and Mac systems on the CERN site by persons who are also on site. Use on remote machines or by persons not physically present at CERN requires a special Home Use Licence.

Wolfram Research keeps the Mathematica User Community regularly informed through their quarterly MATHwire Bulletin.

It is a Windows-based calculation package integrating text and graphics with the maths.

Axum, also Windows-based, is for data analysis and display and acts as an add-on to MathCAD 2000 and 2001. It is no longer supported.

It provides a technical computing environment for engineers and scientists. Mathematical and graphical tools also support algorithm and application development. CERN has a number of engineering , statistical and mathematical toolboxes available for PCs, UNIX and Macs.

This product is part of the Microsoft Office suite, installable from NICE. Only installation-related issues/queries are attended.
